Michigan Works! Helps Supportive Father Take Bookkeeping Course and Plan for Future

Jordan is sole support for he, his wife and small children. He enjoys working and assisting his family. Jordan lives in a high poverty, underrepresented, rural area. With tuition assistance thanks to the Michigan Learning and Education Advancement Program, Jordan enrolled in a non-traditional field when he took the Professional Bookkeeping with Quickbooks course at North Central Michigan College. This course will help him in his current position at Citizens National Bank, as well as in the future, where he plans to start his own Mini Self-Storage & Retail Store.

Jordan has been employed in the banking world for 10 years, starting as teller and working his way through clerk, lender, collector, and now credit analyst. He enjoys crunching numbers and being able to help borrowers achieve their loan requests to help support their businesses. He is very excited to have the chance to enhance his financial knowledge and hopes the class will help open doors for him, as he knows a good understanding of bookkeeping can help provide to his families business, as well as to starting his own.

Thanks to the financial assistance he received to take the course, Jordan received his Professional Bookkeeping with Quickbooks certification and passed with a 95.5%! Jordan says, “I’m excited for my future and thankful for Michigan Works!”
