VETERAN EMPLOYMENT SERVICES

PRIORITY OF SERVICE

In compliance with the Jobs for Veterans Act, veterans and eligible spouses will receive Priority of Service status for all Michigan Works! programs, meaning you will be able to access jobs and will be referred to jobs prior to those jobs being available to the general public. We ask that military veterans and their spouses identify their veteran status to Michigan Works! staff to receive this priority treatment.

JOB SEARCH

In addition to using the Pure Michigan Talent Connect, local job postings, and other resources, your Veterans Career Advisor will use personal knowledge of the local job market to aggressively seek new or upcoming job opportunities by contacting employers on your behalf. Assistance with resume preparation, interview skills, bonding, or resolving problems are also available.

CAREER EXPLORATION & PLANNING

Your Veterans Career Advisor can work with you to examine career paths, educational requirements, job possibilities, wage potential and other factors important in planning your career.

EMPLOYMENT BARRIERS

Veterans may have other needs that affect their chances of finding a job. The Veterans Career Advisor regularly networks with partner agencies and organizations to obtain services. These may include unemployment benefits, health services, living expenses, transportation, job-readiness training, adaptive equipment, employer accommodations for veterans with disabilities, and more.
