After landing his new job as a maintenance man for an inn in Mackinaw City, recently released re-entering citizen Josh was in need of gas money to get back and forth to work prior to receiving his first paycheck. He stopped in at Michigan Works! to see if they could help. Thanks to the Barrier Removal Employment Success (BRES) program, Michigan Works! was able to assist Josh with the gas vouchers he needed to make his daily commute.

Josh is excited to focus on his new job through the season and is learning valuable skills while working at the inn. He has realized he needs to focus on his time management and listening skills to keep his job and he’s taking the opportunity seriously. While working with Michigan Works!, Josh turned in all paperwork in a timely manner and is learning patience, and that you have to work hard and show up 100% every day.
