When Andrew came to Michigan Works! Northeast Consortium, he had a clear career goal: earning his CDL-A. However, with rising living expenses and limited savings, the cost of training made pursuing that goal difficult.

With tuition assistance and mileage reimbursement from Michigan Works!, Andrew was able to enroll at Road Warrior Truck Driving School and focus on completing his training. Throughout the program, he built his knowledge and confidence behind the wheel, learning to operate different transmission types and safely handle truck and trailer combinations.

Andrew successfully passed his CDL permit test with the Secretary of State before completing his road test and earning his CDL-A. Along the way, he learned that persistence—and trusting in his own abilities—can make a significant difference.

“Confidence, and trust in my class instructor's confidence in my abilities, paid off in the end,” shared Andrew.

Today, Andrew has gained an in-demand credential that can open the door to new career opportunities and help him build a more secure future.
