Michigan Works! Helps Jobseeker Overcome Transportation Barriers

Jacqueline came to Michigan Works! in need of car repairs. She was unemployed and was finding it hard to continue her job search and go to interviews because her brakes were in such bad shape. Thankfully, Michigan Works! was able to help her pay for her car repairs thanks to the Barrier Removal Employment Success (BRES) program.

Once her car was in working condition again, Jacqueline was able to find a new job at the Goodwill. Unfortunately, that’s when she realized her plates were due as well, and she hadn’t saved enough money with her new job to cover the expense. Once again the BRES program was able to help Jacqueline out, helping to cover her plate fee.

Jacqueline is very grateful for the assistance she received at Michigan Works! and happy she can continue getting back and forth to her job both safely and legally!
