When Robert and his wife, Leanna, were referred to the PATH program by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, they made a decision that worked best for their family — Leanna would stay home with their children while Robert completed the required 40 hours per week. At the time, Robert was unemployed, and with only one vehicle between them, the family faced additional challenges in balancing responsibilities and pursuing employment.
Robert began working with Michigan Works! Career Advisor Niki Chamberlain, who helped him build a professional resume and guided him through weekly job search and job readiness activities. His dedication quickly paid off. Within just a few weeks, Robert was hired at Letavis Enterprises in Petoskey as an Oil Change Attendant, earning $15 per hour and working full-time.
To help set him up for success, Niki also assisted Robert with necessary work clothing and boots, along with transitional support services as he reached important employment milestones.
Today, Robert is proud to be working in a hands-on job he truly enjoys. He is grateful for the support he received and for the opportunity to provide stability for his family. Robert continues to build confidence and his determination, resilience, and commitment to his family have paved the way for a bright future.
