Employment Success Funding Outfits New Home Health Aide

Susan was let go from her previous employer and was having issues with her unemployment. She came to Michigan Works! in Alpena for assistance. While at Michigan Works! figuring out her unemployment, Career Navigator Mary Davis told Susan about all the services that Michigan Works! could offer to help her find and obtain new employment.

When Susan was hired as a home health aide, she needed work appropriate clothing, but didn’t have the money to obtain this before she started working.

Susan’s Career Navigator Mary was able to utilize BRES funding (Barrier Removal Employment Success) to get Susan the scrubs and shoes she needed. Thanks to this assistance, Susan is now ready to work in new, comfortable clothing.

Thankful for the help she received, Susan says she learned “when one door closes, another one opens”.
