Building a Brighter Future

Ocean smiles in a blue graduation cap and gown, by a brick wall, with a tassel marked 26.

When Ocean connected with Michigan Works! Northeast Consortium, she was looking for guidance to help achieve her educational and career goals. Through the WIOA In-School Youth Program and Jobs for Michigan's Graduates (JMG), she received personalized support designed to strengthen both her employability and her confidence.

Michigan Works! assisted Ocean with preparing for her driving test, job searching, and exploring post-secondary education options, including potential financial resources. She also gained valuable workplace experience through a local work experience placement and participated in the Virtual Career Readiness & Exploration Program and Next Step Day campaign, building skills that will serve her well in the future.

Today, Ocean is preparing for the next chapter of her journey as she heads to Central Michigan University to pursue a degree in Social Work. With greater confidence, stronger employability skills, and a clear career direction, she is well on her way to making a positive difference in the lives of others.
