Michigan Works! Helps Worker Secure Employment and Support Services

Eric came to the Grayling Michigan Works! seeking a new job. Michigan Works! Career Navigator, Christina Southwell, referred him for a position with AJD Forest Products and he got the job! But once he had the job offer, he realized he would need gas money to get to and from work prior to his first paycheck, as well as required steel-toed boots prior to his first day.

Working with Michigan Works! Career Navigator Amanda Bentley, Eric was able to utilize BRES funding (Barrier Removal Employment Success Program) to help with the support services he needed. Michigan Works! was able to provide bus tickets as well as steel-toed boots, ensuring that Eric not only kept his job, but was able to stay safe doing it!

Thanks to the assistance provided by Michigan Works!, Eric remains employed with AJD and continues to follow the worker safety requirements.
