Veteran Finds New Career Path Thanks to Tuition Assistance

Hunter is an Air Force Veteran who was struggling to find direction after his discharge from the service. He was being supported by family members, but he knew he wanted more, so he came to Michigan Works! Northeast Consortium in Gaylord for guidance.

Hunter began working with a Michigan Works! Career Advisor and a Veterans Career Advisor. He decided he wanted to pursue his CDL and was able to receive tuition assistance for the training thanks to WIOA Adult funding and Michigan Learning and Education Advancement program funding.

Hunter began his training at Road Warriors and within 4 weeks he had passed his driving test and gained his CDL-A license. He is happy to say that he now has full-time employment as a truck driver and is making $24/hr.
