Victoria came to the Grayling Michigan Works! office seeking tuition assistance with a clear goal: obtain her Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) and build a long-term career in commercial driving. With prior experience in industrial manufacturing and construction, she recognized that many in-demand roles—ranging from industrial freight transportation to heavy equipment operation, crane operation, emergency vehicle transport, and waste management—require a CDL.

With combined funding sources, Michigan Works! provided tuition assistance, resume support, career planning, and both comprehensive and specialized assessments. This support allowed Victoria to focus on her training and successfully complete CDL courses at Road Warrior Truck Driving School in Gaylord, Michigan, earning her Commercial Driver’s License.

Motivated by the consistent demand for skilled commercial drivers and the opportunities for career advancement, competitive wages, and strong benefits, Victoria was able to secure stable employment. She now works with a local fireworks business, using her CDL to haul fireworks and support commercial transportation operations.

Victoria’s achievement demonstrates how braided-funded training can directly lead to credential attainment and employment in a high-demand field, positioning her for long-term career growth and economic stability.
