Getting Her Vehicle—and Her Career—Back on Track

For Juanita, working as a cook for HR Hospitality Services in Brutus means having dependable transportation. When her 2007 Jeep Cherokee needed several major repairs, including work on the steering and braking systems, the cost created a significant financial challenge.
Juanita was determined to address the repairs and continue working. She contributed $300 of her own money, and her family stepped in with another $600. Through the Barrier Removal Employment Success (BRES) program, Michigan Works! Northeast Consortium provided the final funds toward the repair costs.
With support from her family and Michigan Works!, Juanita was able to make the much-needed repairs and work toward restoring reliable transportation.
Juanita's story demonstrates the power of combining personal determination, family support, and workforce resources to overcome unexpected challenges. By helping ease the financial burden of essential vehicle repairs, Michigan Works! supported Juanita's ability to maintain employment and continue building stability.
