Sara's Journey to Independence

Sara, a dedicated single mother of three, has spent her life putting others first. Working full-time in a demanding care-giving role, she tirelessly supports her family while continuing to care for those around her. For months, Sara depended on friends and neighbors for daily rides—an exhausting routine that left her with little time or flexibility.

When Sara came to Michigan Works!, she was seeking more than just help—she was seeking a turning point. She shared her story with us, and through the Talent and Growth Initiative, we were able to provide the support she needed to purchase a reliable vehicle.

This new chapter has brought Sara something invaluable: independence. With her own transportation, she no longer has to rely on others, and she’s now able to confidently manage both her family’s needs and her demanding work schedule.
