When Brittany enrolled in Kirtland Community College’s Nursing program, she was driven by a desire to make a meaningful difference in people’s lives. Her empathy and resilience, shaped by life experience, guided her toward a career in healthcare.

Like many adult learners, she faced real challenges—limited finances, time constraints, young children, and transportation needs that made higher education feel overwhelming. Encouraged by a friend, she turned to Michigan Works! for support and found exactly what she needed.

Through the WIOA program, Brittany received tuition assistance and resume support, allowing her to focus fully on one of the college’s most demanding programs. She persevered through rigorous coursework and clinicals while balancing her roles as a wife and mother.

In December, Brittany began her career as a Nurse at Kalkaska Memorial Hospital. This new chapter brings financial stability and a future she’s proud to model for her children.

She credits Michigan Works! and the WIOA program for providing the resources, encouragement, and confidence that helped her succeed.

Her advice to others is simple: “Do it. You are worth it. With WIOA, there is nothing holding you back.”
