Overcoming Detours on the Road to Success

When Teddy came to Michigan Works! Northeast Consortium, he was ready to get back behind the wheel. Having previously held a CDL-A in another state and years of driving experience, he expected transferring his credentials to Michigan to be a straightforward process. Instead, he encountered unexpected licensing requirements and setbacks that delayed his return to professional driving.

Determined to move forward, Teddy worked with Michigan Works! Career Advisor Tracy Bohl to navigate his options and pursue the training he needed. When he unexpectedly lost his housing and had to relocate, Michigan Works! helped him find a new training provider just minutes from his new residence, allowing him to stay on track toward his goal.

Despite the challenges along the way, Teddy successfully completed his CDL-A training in June. An even better opportunity followed, and he began working for SRM Concrete three weeks later, earning $24 per hour.

Teddy's journey is a great example of perseverance and adaptability. By staying focused through unexpected obstacles and asking for help when he needed it, he was able to get back on the road and begin a new chapter in his career.
