After several obstacles Kelli had faced throughout her life, she felt she would never be able to get ahead. After a Michigan Works! partner agency referred Kelli to visit Michigan Works! in Alpena, she attended their resume workshop. After the workshop, Kelli created her resume, which led to a job referral at Speedy Blaze. She was offered full-time employment, but still needed assistance to cover her first month’s rent at her new apartment. Fortunately, thanks to the Barrier Removal Employment Success program, Michigan Works! was able to help Kelli with the rent. While working with her Michigan Works! Career Navigator Mary on the rental assistance, Kelli saw that Holcim was holding Open Interviews at the Michigan Works! office. She decided to attend and was offered a full-time position! Thankful for the help she received, Kelli states, “It’s nice to know I can come back to Michigan Works! and be able to get the guidance I need and work with people who believe in me!”
