Local workforce development leaders were awarded Michigan Works! ‘Shining Star’ awards by the Michigan Works! Association for going above and beyond to help job seekers and employers in Northern Michigan. The awards were presented at the Association’s annual conference in Detroit in September.

The Shining Star awards celebrate Michigan Works! frontline staff who, through dedication and outstanding contributions to workforce development, personify the Michigan Works! mission.

Jeanie Flory, Youth Career Advisor, won the award for Michigan Works! Northeast Consortium. Jeanie goes above and beyond for the youth she serves. To Jeanie, her work isn't just about the services Michigan Works! offers these students, but helping students learn about responsibility and helping them reach their goals in any way she can.

“Hardworking frontline staff like Jeanie are why Michigan’s workforce development system is so strong,” said Michigan Works! Association CEO Ryan Hundt. “Her focus and commitment to helping youth in our state is improving lives of Michiganders every day and that is why she’s a Shining Star.”
