Nathan came to Michigan Works! Northeast Consortium looking for a way to improve his employment opportunities and achieve greater financial stability. To help reach that goal, he enrolled in CDL-A training at Road Warrior Truck Driving School with assistance from Michigan Works!, which provided both tuition assistance and mileage reimbursement.
One challenge Nathan faced was navigating the job search process. Because of his autism, searching for employment could be overwhelming at times. With guidance and support from Michigan Works! staff, he successfully worked through the enrollment process, completed his training, and earned his CDL-A license.
Today, Nathan is working for the Department of Public Works in Mackinaw City as a laborer/maintenance worker while actively pursuing truck driving opportunities where he can utilize his new credential.
Nathan’s story shows how determination, combined with the right support, can open the door to new career opportunities.
