Answering the Call to Serve

Brayden smiles in uniform and accepts his certificate at a Lake Superior State University ceremony, with U.S. flag and MCOLES 58th academy banner.

Brayden was nearing the completion of his Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice at Lake Superior State University when he began planning his next step toward a career in law enforcement. With one semester remaining, he was also preparing to complete the MCOLES Academy at LSSU — an important step toward achieving his goal of becoming a police officer.

Michigan Works! Northeast Consortium supported Brayden by providing tuition assistance and career planning support. This assistance helped remove a financial barrier and allowed him to focus on completing his final semester and academy training.

Brayden successfully completed the MCOLES Academy, earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice, and began employment shortly after graduation with the Chippewa County Sheriff Department as a Sheriff Deputy.

Brayden’s journey reflects the impact of investing in education and career goals — helping individuals gain the skills needed to serve and strengthen their communities.
