Brian was already building a career as a truck driver, but he knew earning his CDL-A certification would open the door to new opportunities and allow him to take on additional responsibilities with his employer, Dave’s Custom Tillage.
Encouraged by his employer, Brian enrolled in the CDL-A program at Alpena Community College to advance his skills. Through Michigan Works! Northeast Consortium, Brian received support with the enrollment process and funding needed to complete his training.
After successfully completing the program, Brian earned his CDL-A certification, adding an important credential to his professional skill set. The training allowed him to expand the types of materials he can haul and positioned him for increased responsibilities and future career growth.
Throughout the process, Brian gained new skills, including improving his double-clutching and backing abilities. He expressed appreciation for the encouragement and support he received from Michigan Works!, which helped him reach this important career milestone.
With his CDL-A in hand, Brian is continuing to grow in his career and looks forward to the opportunities ahead.
