Aaron knew he wanted a career in truck driving, but the cost of training stood in the way of achieving his goal. Having already earned his commercial learner’s permit, he was ready to enroll in the accelerated CDL-A program at Road Warrior Truck Driving School but needed financial assistance to move forward.
Aaron’s Michigan Works! Career Advisor explored all available programs and resources to help remove Aaron’s barriers and support his success throughout the training process. By braiding multiple funding sources, Michigan Works! was able to provide tuition assistance and mileage reimbursement.
With determination and hard work, Aaron successfully completed his CDL-A training and earned his Commercial Driver’s License. He has since secured employment with Extreme Asphalt as a truck driver and is excited to continue building his career in the industry. Looking ahead, Aaron hopes to join the union and eventually work for DuBois Electric doing storm restoration work.
Aaron shared that one of the most valuable lessons he learned through the experience was not being afraid to ask for help. His story demonstrates how perseverance, combined with the right support, can open doors to new opportunities and long-term career success.
