Removing a Winter Transportation Barrier

For Beth, reliable transportation is essential to maintaining her job as a cook at Manzana's Restaurant in Onaway. After facing an unexpected medical expense and keeping up with household bills, she found herself unable to afford the new tires her Jeep desperately needed.
With winter approaching, driving on worn tires posed a safety concern, but replacing them was beyond her budget.
Through the Barrier Removal Employment Success (BRES) program, Michigan Works! Northeast Consortium helped Beth obtain the winter tires she needed to travel to and from work safely. This assistance relieved an immediate financial burden and helped her maintain her employment during a difficult time.
Beth was grateful for the support, noting that her vehicle now rides and drives much better.
Sometimes, a single unexpected expense can threaten someone's ability to get to work. By helping Beth overcome this transportation barrier, Michigan Works! helped her stay on the road, remain employed, and continue working toward financial stability.
