Michigan Works! Training Assistance Helps Aspiring Trucker Become a Road Warrior

“I had lost my job 6 months prior to going to Michigan Works! to ask for training assistance,” says Jessica. “I didn’t know this was something that they offered! I was referred by a friend of mine who is a trainer at Road Warrior Trucking School when I told them about my interest in driving.”

“Without having a job or any way to come up with the money to attend CDL school, Michigan Works! was a godsend! I’d been interested in driving for so long, but never had the money or means to pursue it. Now, thanks to Michigan Works! and the training assistance they provided, I can finally do what I’ve dreamed of doing for years.”

“I was able to attend Road Warrior Trucking school and get my CDL with no restrictions, which will result in more job opportunities than I have ever had or thought possible. At one point in training I hit a block and could not figure out how to do an alley dock back up maneuver, but thanks to the great instructors at Road Warrior they helped me through it and were very kind and patient. I was able to complete the maneuver and have more confidence in myself and my abilities.”

Thanks to the training assistance offered through Michigan Works!, Jessica was able to complete her CDL-A training at Road Warriors and she learned a lot about the trucking industry. She has a lot more confidence and can now work in the field that she has been wanting to work in for years. She is currently employed at 2 Brothers Inc. as an OTR Truck Driver and is very excited about this new opportunity.
