Edward had to quit working after being diagnosed with cancer. The radiation therapy was just too much to try to continue working. After completing his treatments, Edward’s cancer has gone into remission and he just wants to get back to work to support his family. When he did finally get a job, he needed new boots for the position, as well as help with gas to/from work prior to his first paycheck.

Michigan Works! Career Navigator, Kelli, was able to help Edward with BRES funding (Barrier Removal Employment Success). With new steel toed boots and a gas voucher, Edward was ready to start his new job.

Edward says he loves his new job and he couldn’t have done it without help from Michigan Works! He says he’s learned not to be scared to ask for help and that there are places and people who can help you.
