A Little Help Goes a Long Way

Blair was working in home healthcare and needed reliable transportation to get to work and serve her clients. When her vehicle needed four new tires, the unexpected expense threatened to create a barrier to maintaining her employment.
Through the Barrier Removal Employment Success (BRES) program, Michigan Works! Northeast Consortium provided funding to cover the cost of four new tires, including mounting and balancing.
With this assistance, Blair was able to address the immediate transportation issue and get back on the road. Having safe, reliable tires helped her continue getting to work and carrying out her responsibilities in the home healthcare field.
At Michigan Works!, helping people overcome barriers—one step at a time—is an important part of supporting employment success. Blair's story illustrates how assistance with an essential expense can make a meaningful difference in someone's ability to remain employed.
